Welcome to Sweet Orange Fox, a look into our life here in Dallas! I started this blog as a
way to document my unexpected journey through infertility and IVF at a
young age, and now it has become a collection of all things - life,
pregnancy, motherhood, DIY, decor, fashion, design and more! Here is a little bit about us..
holidays, party planning and list making, and I rarely go a day without Skittles & Sun Chips. Chicago is my favorite city in the world, and I would move back in a heartbeat, but I can never seem to stay out of Texas for too long. You can find me on any given day organizing something, making paper garlands, taking care of my boys or having a drink on a patio somewhere.
I'm married to Matt, and he I couldn't be luckier. He is an absolute saint and more patient and easy-going than anyone I know. Having been born and raised in England, he is a die hard footballer - working for FC Dallas and playing in various leagues around town. I call him "MattDenny" because my brother is also named Matt. True story. He doesn't like to admit it (and neither do I), but his accent is totally starting to fade.
We met during a Chicago summer while Matt was coaching and I was working downtown. After a whirlwind three months, we moved in together about 50 yards from Wrigley Field and had a blast going to every Cubs game we could manage. Two months later, Matt took me to England over Christmas to meet his family and shocked me with a surprise trip to Paris, complete with a proposal.
Of course I said yes, and we got married in my beloved Austin (on 6th street!) on Halloween 2009. Another true story? Matt had a black eye on our wedding day after a rather interesting rehearsal dinner, so most of our wedding pictures were very strategically posed (and then edited). We made a spur of the moment decision to move back to Texas a few months after getting married, and Matt wasted no time becoming a total Texan..pickup truck and all.
After experiencing a miscarriage and subsequent struggles to conceive, we finally got our miracle through IVF. Trent Fox Denny was born on our third anniversary, Halloween 2012, and life changed forever! True to his Halloween birthday, he is a little monster sometimes, but he is my sweetheart..my sweet orange fox.
Matt picked his first name, Trent, in honor of the River Trent that runs through his hometown of Nottingham. Fox is a family name on my side..with my Dad being Pat Fox and my brother being Matt Fox. Trent Fox fits right in.
SweetOrangeFox started out as SimplyScissors, a small Etsy shop I shared with my mom. We were both shocked by the amazing response, and my mom branched out with her own shop, TenCentOrange. I expanded SimplyScissors with various items including party decor, t-shirts, headbands, boot shapers and more. The demand continued to grow, and I made the switch in early 2015 to SweetOrangeFox.etsy.com. I also made the tough but exciting decision to focus almost exclusively on event decor. Banners, garlands, cupcake toppers, cake toppers and more....you name it! Party planning - and specifically decor design - has ALWAYS been my passion, and I can't believe I am finally able to do it full time. A dream come true, to be sure. I am in the process of jumping ship (off of Etsy) to an independent website. Stay tuned for more exciting developments!
Thanks for stopping by and sharing in a little bit of our world! I love to hear from readers, so please feel free to leave comments or contact me here.
Happy reading!

Hello there! I came across your story today and was very interested-- I haven't really been able to find much on your IVF journey and I admit, I haven't searched too much. Can you please let me know where I can find the start to your "journey"? I have been trying to get pregnant for nine months now with no success and I am the mother of a full term stillborn.. thank you :)
